How do implants behave

Any person not related to the world of plastic surgery would be quite amazed to learn what a diversity of implants (silicone protheses) are emplaced in patients’ faces and bodies on daily basis all over the world. Today implants are used to solve a whole range of problems.

First of all – breast augmentation – the procedure when a circular shaped endoprothesis (can be filled with silicone gel or saline solution) is emplaced inside of the breast, under lacteal gland or under a muscle.

Huge number of face implant emplacements are also performed. In this case full body implants are used. This type of implants is not filled with anything. They are just homogeneous pieces either of silicone rubber or of porous polyurethane resin that grow into tissues during several months after the operation.

Lip Augmentation Using Braces

'2011 16 Comments

Usually when people think of lip augmentation they think of injection (synthetic or natural fillers), grafting or surgical restructuring of lip contours. At the same time there is one more method that is often overlooked by plastic surgeon patients – orthodontic lip enhancement with braces.

The concept behind this treatment is that lip shape is defined by the way upper and lower incisors are positioned and the angle at which they tilt. Our lips rest on our teeth so even when the bite is correct there is a possibility of lips looking thin or misshapen if front teeth bend inward too much. Orthodontia is the exact science hence position of front teeth is rendered in numbers. The position is considered normal when the angle between upper teeth and hard palate bone is 70 degrees, and the angle between soft palate and lower jaw is 90 degrees.
